today i got home from work and instead of urinating on her puppy pad, she did it on my new chaise lounge. how should i punish her?

Punish her by giving her to someone who knows what they're doing!

No. because I'm guessing that happened awhile back… you cannot just walk up to her and punish her for something that she did awhile ago because she doesn't know what she did wrong. and you should never hit your puppy anyway!

It's both common knowledge and just plain common sense that you never punish a dog for doing something after the fact. they don't have a clue what your problem is, but they do know you can't be trusted.

If your dog isn't housetrained, she needs to be crated when you're not home. you sure don't punish her.

use the clicker training method when your home or when you leave simply put her in her cage and when u get home take her directly outside or to her puppy pad to do her Business.

never punish a dog in that way especially because she wont know wat your punishing her for!
NEVER put her face in the urin either!
You might as well give her to another owner if your gonna treat her like crap. try new puppy pads or try to housebreak her! PLZZ

too late now, punishment has to happen when the incident is taking place or the canine wont understand why it is being punished. rubbing nose in the urination is BEST. then clean mess well because dogs tend to smell the soiled spot and use it again.

Don't punish her now, she doesn't know what she did wrong. Besides, you should never hit a puppy anways. Crate your dog when she's home alone.

Well, I would say neither. Use her butt. but not now!! It's too late to do anything about it now. you should never punish an animal for something it did hours ago. Especially a puppy!!! They're like kids. they do something and 5 minutes later forget they did it. The poor thing will think you're just coming home and smacking him around.

Dogs and puppys don't remember what happened 5 seconds ago don't smack them because they have no clue what for.you have to catch them in their act and afterward bring her straight outside or to her puppy pad and stay there and say "get busy" or "go pee" so she knows when you say that you mean to go and pee then and outside or on her puppy pad rather than in your house.I also say scold yourself because she is a puppy and puppys need to be trained so when your in training keep your puppy in a crate while your at work when your done with training let her out for a day and come home see if she peed if she did back to the crate while at work and then try again after a few more days till she knows where to pee.

Dogs cannot associate a punishment with a crime done more than twenty seconds before, let alone while you were at work. Never, NEVER smack a dog on its head, you could seriously injure its brain–especially a young puppy. I don't mean to sound harsh, but what you are suggesting is cruel and inhumane. if you catch your puppy in the act of "going" on your chaise lounge or anything other than her puppy pad, get down on her level and firmly tell her no and then take her to her puppy pad or outside to let her finish her business. I suggest checking out some puppy training books from your library and verbally praising/rewarding her whenever she urinates where she is supposed to so she knows she is doing the right thing. for now, good luck and never raise a hand in anger to your dog.

would you smack a child on the nose or head ? i dont agee with hitting anything . you say its a puppy so ya they will pee around until they are trained but if your home and you just put your puppy out and she dosent do anything but when you take her in she pees on the floor, then id put her in time out and id keep doing this until she learns he lesson( i wouldnt keep her in there for to long but id do it right after she does something you dont agree with and id do it every time until she understands that there is a lesson to be learned

Neither! what I to do is simple, ignore her/him. He/she dosn't like it so then the know not to do it. we did it with our pug.

you should never hit your dog if u hit them they will never forgive you just put them in a crate use a firm voice and say NO

I have a puppy to and I got recommended this from a person who sister is a dog trainer, rub their nose in it and put them on their back and say no. take them out side and leave them out there alone for a while, it really helps! I did that with my pup
