Something as simple as new seat cushions on your patio furniture can change the whole look of your outdoor patio furniture. This is not only cheap to do but to save money and change the look of your outdoor furniture on your patio. This can change the whole appearance of your outdoor seating area, and save you money at the same time. You can choose many different patterns for your cushion designs, and they are easy to make, if you can sew even a little you can make cushions for your patio furniture. If you can sew a pillow you can sew a seat cushion for the patio furniture.
Choose the right type of fabric
You will want to get the right type of fabric for your patio cushions. Silk or nylon are not good options for outdoor usage, as the sun and rain will destroy and deteriorate the fabric quickly. Awning fabric is made especially last longer outside and is idea for cushions. Acrylic fabric is another great choice it will be easy to clean and is durable. once you choose your durable fabric, then you will want to treat it with scotchgard so that it resist water and sun damage. This is something that will need to be reapplied yearly for best results.
Measure the Size for the Cushions
Measure your furniture for the size of the cushions before buying anything. You will need to know exactly how much material and foam cushions you will need before you head to the store.
For the foam for the cushion you will need to determine how thick of foam cushion you will want. Usually 2 inches thickness is enough. To protect your foam cushion, (you can have these cut to size if you don’t want to cut them yourself), place plastic around the cushion before covering them with fabric. Cheap garbage bags will work for this purpose. This just protects the foam from being outside.
After you measure how big your foam cushion is going to be then you can determine how much material that you will need for the foam cushion covering. This is similar to making a pillow, easy stitches along the sides. You can add a zipper if you want to so that you can remove the cover and wash it. Use Velcro closures on the back of the cushions that you sew on and will make it easy for it to be removed to be washed.
Assembling the Cushion Cover:
After you have everything together you will be able to sew the cushions. Place the foam cushion on the back of the fabric and trace around it, leaving extra for seam allowance on the sides. For a basic seat cover you should have a top, bottom and 4 side pieces that will make up your cushion. Sew together using the wrong side of the fabric, the top and side pieces, and then once that is complete you will sew on the bottom part of the cushion, leaving an opening so that it will cover the foam cushion. where you have your opening, you will want to sew in either a zipper so that you can close it after it’s on, or the easiest way would be to sew on Velcro closures.
If you can make a pillow you can make covers for your outdoor patio cushions. They are just as easy as making pillows for your living room, you will have to use more durable fabrics but most sewing machines can easily sew through these fabrics.
You can make your own outdoor patio cushions for much less than purchasing them ready made, you can make them to change the look of your patio settings, and will protect your furniture, and make it a more comfortable setting for you and your guests.

beautiful & stunning value
along with the lounger this is easily the best value in the enitre range & quite stunning. we bought 4 of these & are very pleased. they are comfortable & take up little room. the price is simply incredible. we bought 2 of the wicker chairs; they too are lovely & slightly wider but they represent lesser value. however they do finish off the set wonderfully well.
the only criticism is with the cushions they get dirty very quickly even from the rain & though they can get washed this is a real nuisance.
btw the loungers in the same collection are also different & wonderful. in fact in short this is THE set to buy for value individuality & styleMore detail …

Question by Coralee: Is it okay to leave outdoor furniture cushions outside in the rain?
That’s probably a silly question. I imagine they are made for outdoors, but I wasn’t sure if they were okay even if they weren’t covered when it rains. I didn’t want them to mildew or stay wet for days or anything….

For the most part, yes. There are some cushions that are designed to be covered or placed inside at night or in the rain, but chances are that you have the ones that are designed to stay outside.

Yes, it is fine to leave them out, but I always recommend that if you know it is going to rain, bring them in.
Sunbrella, Spun Polyester, Sunsharp, Olefin and Teflon are the majority of fabrics that outdoor cushions are made from.

Depending on the fabric (sunbrella, acrylics, spun poly)… you should be able to keep your cushions out in the rain if you’re just talking an occasional sprinkle or light rain. They should be stored indoors during rainy seasons though.

It's a terrible vehicle to use as a daily driver. It's easy to spin the rear drive wheels during any sign of rain much less ice or snow. especially when going up a hill or freeway onramp. It's RWD with a light end so it oversteers and the rear end spins far too easily, even with an underpowered 4 cylinder coupled to an automatic. Also the ride is very brutal. you feel EVERY bump, every road imperfection. there is no cushioning at all. It's like sitting in one of those electric vibrating lazy boy chairs while cruising down the highway. A pot hole makes the steel frame jar with lightning force.
The truck feels so unstable. Doesn't track well, doesn't corner well. Panic manuvers are not possible. I've driven all sorts of pickup trucks. they are all like this but compact pickups are the worst offenders. i.e. Tacoma, Ranger, S10, Colorado, etc. they are terrible in bad weather.
What gives? Why do people keep buying them for daily driving?
70% for utility and job use, 30% because guys think it's cool.
No doubt some people buy them for ego. That's true with many vehicles. I own a sports car, and it's definitely an ego thing.
However, I think a lot of people buy them for utility. Pickups today are pretty nice, and I mostly disagree with you about the overall handling in the newer models. Why buy another vehicle just for commuting? Plus, it's pretty common where I live for families to keep a car or van for a primary vehicle and a pickup for the other vehicle. That means somebody's commuting in it!
It is obvious from your question that you do not like trucks. many people do not share your views. I have a truck and it handles well for me. I do not "spin the rear drive wheels during any sign of rain much less ice or snow". I know how to drive!
A truck has much more utility than a car or van. I can carry anything from lumber to auto parts to furniture. if I am driving one of my cars, and I want to make a purchase, I have to be concerned about it fitting in the car, and not messing up the interior! if I am driving my truck, I can put anything in the bed (tie it down with ratchet straps if needed) and go!
A truck will not handle like a sports car, they are two different types of vehicles. you have to adapt your driving style to the vehicle you are in. I expect my truck to handle differently than my Town car, and both handle differently than a sports car.
Many people find the utility of a tuck is well worth adapting to!
maybe the job they are with requires them to have alot of tools and other work-related material. We have a pickup truck that is used to haul things-does come in handy.
Because it beats the cost of renting one when you need one if you need one regularly.
My old Silverado actually rode very well. While I love the Wrangler I'm driving now, I sort of miss the Silverado.
I have an F350 for work, but it's a pain to go to the office to get it if I need to do a weekend project on the house. At the time I had the Silverado, it was an incredible tool; I used it regularly for work, why should I have a second vehicle?
I will probably never get an aircraft engine into the back of the Wrangler. Moving my welder around is a challenge with the Jeep compared to the truck, and we're not even going to discuss trying to move my toolbox.
When we needed fresh nitrogen bottles, I couln't have used the Jeep for that. when I had to go pick up steel for a custom fabrication project, I couldn't have used the Jeep for that.
I think you'd be surprised at how regularly someone that buys a pickup winds up using for what it was meant to do; haul stuff.
As for traction, I added a toolbox to the bed and 250 pound steel plate. it wasn't a problem.
I used to have a game of trying to get someone who wouldn't notice behind me and taking railroad tracks at speeds of 45 or more.
For someone that needs, and regularly uses it, a pickup is a better investment than having to regularly rent, or annoy a pickup owner when you need to borrow it. Who's to say I shouldn't be able to drive it home or to work or the burger place because it's what I have and in the drive?
